Our Story

Four Seasons Produce Cooperative officially formed in January of 2011. Our organizing efforts began a year earlier through grassroots outreach meetings and calls to small vegetable farmers throughout the Mid-Michigan area. We were awarded a development grant through Michigan State University’s Ag Product Center. This funding allowed us to do extensive surveying of more regional farmers, and provided us with support as we developed our plan as a cooperative.

Since we were able to schedule and coordinate the planting of our hoop houses for staggered winter and spring harvests, we decided to launch a pilot project to supply spinach to our first institutional buyer.
